15 Healthy Snacks For Weight Loss

I love snacking, but snacking all day and working from home is not a good combination. In case I haven’t mentioned it before, I am ALWAYS hungry. My stomach feels like a bottomless pit that never seems to get full. So I am always looking for quick and easy snacks that are easy to grab for my busy lifestyle.

You can’t exactly eat six meals a day, I mean, you can, but I’m not sure you’d want to do that.

Instead of eating bigger portions, or loading up on unhealthy foods, I want to stay fit and maintain a certain weight, so a bunch of chips and cookies were out of the question. One of the things I’ve noticed with snacking throughout the day is that it fills me up making me feel fuller longer.

Additionally, the right snacks can aid with weight loss. These 15 easy snack ideas are some of the best healthy snacks for weight loss or if you need something quick to eat post workout.

15 Healthy Snacks for Weight Loss

Vegetables and Hummus

I like to dip crunchy vegetables in hummus as an afternoon snack. My favorite veggies to pair with hummus are cucumbers, bell peppers, and carrots.

Try any of those vegetables with spicy red pepper hummus. Vegetables and hummus are one of the best snacks for weight loss because the right brand of hummus contains low calories and sugars.

One of my favorite brands of hummus Root’s Hummus. Be sure to check the labels when buying your hummus because all brands are not created equally.

Edamame

I love to warm up edamame and sprinkle it with a little bit of sea salt and pepper. It’s a great quick, healthy snack that also tastes good. Sometimes you just need a little something to nibble on.

Heat a bowl and eat it while watching a movie instead of going for the popcorn. It might sound weird, but I promise it works.

Edamame has a lot of fiber and protein which is why it’s on this list of healthy snacks for weight loss.

Roasted Chickpeas

I once made a salad that called for roasted chickpeas, and in the spirit of my always hungriness I had to eat a few before the meal was ready.

From that point, I decided to start making them as a snack to take with me.

Recipe:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees

You will need:

Chickpeas

Olive oil

Cayenne and Paprika

¼ tsp liquid smoke (optional)

Toss the chickpeas in olive oil, add the spices and the liquid smoke and coat the chickpeas evenly. Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes depending on the level of crispiness you prefer. This is a really good snack because many times it has stopped me from going for a bag of chips. The chickpeas don’t taste like chips, but the crunchiness and flavor do help fulfill the chips cravings.

Homemade Trail Mix

The trail mix from the store can sometimes have who knows what in it. Opt to make your trail mix at home by grabbing some dark chocolate cacoa nibs and walnuts or almonds.

Mix them together in a bowl and pack them for a midday snack. Be sure to purchase cacao nibs and not milk chocolate.

Cacao nibs make the list of good snacks for weight loss, but milk chocolate does not.

Raspberries

Raspberries are loaded with vitamin C. Vitamin C is great because it helps to boost our bodies ability to burn fat.

Fresh raspberries taste great, and they are easy to transport if you work away from home. Throw a few in a Ziplock and pack it in your bag for a quick snack. Any food that helps to burn fat, in my opinion, is safe to add to the best snack foods for weight loss list.

Zucchini or Eggplant Chips

If you are like me and you love the crunch of potato chips, these chips will become your best friend.

Thinly slice the zucchini or eggplant drizzle with olive oil and bake in the oven at 350 for 15 minutes.

Note: These taste best when eaten fresh from the oven. From my experience, they do not keep very well.

Almond Butter and Apples

Slice an apple and spread some almond butter on it for a quick and tasty snack. Your taste buds will be happy.

Sometimes I pack a couple spoonful’s of almond butter in a Tupperware with an apple for my work snacks.

Hard Boiled Eggs

Some people are skeptical of eggs, but they are on the list of healthy snacks for weight loss because of their protein and healthy fat content.

If you are in a hurry, you can make a boiled egg, sprinkle it with a little sea salt and cayenne for a flavor boost.

Steel Cut Oats

Now that the weather is cooler, I love to eat steel cut oats for breakfast. Top them with a little bit of cinnamon and add some fresh fruit like bananas or strawberries for a healthy morning breakfast or, if you are like me, breakfast number two.

Avocado

Who doesn’t love avocados? If you don’t, we can’t be friends (kidding, sort of). Avocados have healthy fat and water which helps us to feel full for longer.

I like to mash up my avocado and add a few spices and lemon and spread it on a slice of whole grain toasted bread.

Avocado toast is another one of those good snacks for weight loss. Make sure to use whole wheat bread and not white bread.

Sweet Potatoes

I love baked sweet potatoes. Sometimes I bake one the night before as part of my lunch for the next day. Top it with a little bit of cinnamon, and you are in a for a delicious treat.

Sweet potatoes have a healthy dose of fiber in them, and we all need our fiber.

Meat Roll-Ups

If you consume meat, you can grab some fresh deli turkey slice bell pepper and other vegetables of your choice and make a quick meat roll up.

You can add cucumber and carrots as well.

Bananas

Bananas are great because they are loaded with potassium, and if you workout often they can help to reduce the cramping you feel in your muscles.

Pistachios

Pistachios are great because they have fiber, healthy fat, and plant protein. Also, because the pistachios are in a shell, they trick our minds into eating less because we must work for it. Making it on of the best snack foods for weight loss.

Another bonus: Their flavor makes us thirsty so grab a tall glass of water and drink up.

Grapefruit

If you like the taste of grapefruit, you are in luck. Grapefruit helps to manage our appetites because it lowers our levels of insulin.

I have noticed that when I reach for a grapefruit, I don’t feel as hungry throughout the day. Score for the girl who is always hungry!
